The design of Dutch artist Theo Jansen’s exhibition at the Cerrillos National Center for Contemporary Art (CNACC) was a significant challenge due to the complexity of the artist’s research and career.
The objective was to create an attractive informational design consistent with Jansen’s proposal and the spirit of his work, which was also easy for visitors to understand, all within a space of approximately 1,000 m2. TA dynamic identity system inspired by wind current maps, combined with the algorithms or “magic numbers” that the artist uses to achieve the mobility of his Strandbeasts, was designed to achieve this goal. The visual and materiality of the room’s graphics system was inspired by the aesthetics of a tool room, using panels, cells, and smaller photos that were assembled on a peg board.
